Side Effects from Essure®
Essure® is a form of permanent sterilization. The device works by blocking the fallopian tubes, and is a non-surgical alternative to the procedure, tubal ligation, also referred to as getting one’s “tubes tied.” It is coil-shaped and made of titanium alloy and nickel. Once inserted into the fallopian tubes, tissue grows around the coil to essentially create a “block,” and thus prevents contraception. Women began reporting various side effects after using the device.
Essure® has been linked to the following side effects:
- Abdominal pain
- Nausea
- Headaches
- Hair loss
- Depression
- Heavier menstrual periods
- Perforation of the colon
- Allergic reaction to the nickel
- Weight gain or weight fluctuation
- Inability to locate device after a scan
- Unintended pregnancy
Furthermore, the device has sadly been linked to several deaths for some women since its introduction to the market. As Kansas City Essure injury lawyers, our mission is to help our clients find peace of mind after becoming injured or experience severe effects from the Essure® device. We urge you to reach out to us as soon as possible so that you better understand your legal rights.
